THE COSMETIC EXPORT COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA (CECOSA) HOSTS A ROUNDTABLE ON IMPROVING THE COMPETITIVENESS AND SUSTAINABILITY OF SOUTH AFRICAN EXPORTERS OF NATURAL INGREDIENTS

December 10th, 2021

South Africa is a biodiversity hotspot, offering a wealth of indigenous plants to produce high quality, innovative natural ingredients for export to the global market.

In support of its natural ingredients’ member companies, CECOSA hosted this roundtable on 25 November 2021. This follows capacity development and strategic planning support by SIPPO with the BSO for the natural ingredients sector.

The objective of the roundtable was to contribute to the increase in exports of natural ingredients by CECOSA’s member companies, through knowledge exchange on increasing competitiveness and sustainability, with a view to identifying gaps and solutions to close these gaps.

The roundtable provided the opportunity for stakeholders in the industry, including a panel of   international importers and successful South African exporters, to share their views on sustainability and innovation, social responsibility, and the environment, as well as export promotion opportunities.

Based on CECOSA’s Export Promotion Strategy, the BSO intends to promote increased and enhanced services to its natural ingredients member companies to grow exports of natural ingredients and to also increase the membership in CECOSA. The roundtable was well attended by exporters and potential exporters of a range of natural ingredients, including essential and vegetable oils, destined for the cosmetics- and foods industry sectors.
